Be honest now, when was the last time you visited Exodar? If Darnassus took off and landed in Desolace, would you ever notice? In fact, maybe it has already happened. Go check!
I still visit Exodar a lot, actually. Instead of Stormwind, I usually go to Exodar when I need the AH (since the Shrine has none for non-Engineers). Also for other things I usually go to Exodar or Darnassus, mostly cause I also like those places better than Stormwind. Although, my Warrior alt has her hearthstone in Ironforge, even as I go around in Pandaria. Whenever I want to go back from a random place in Eastern Kingdoms or Kalimdor, I usually hearth to Ironforge, fly to Stormwind, then take the portal to Pandaria and fly to the Shrine.
I actually log off my characters most of times in Darnassus. I like it more, it’s more open and less crowded. Plus, if I want to go anywhere else, I have the SW tabard to teleport to SW, I have the medalion of Karabor to go to Black Temple, I have the tunneling machine to go the BRD, I have the ring of Dalaran and the Argent tabard to go to Northrend, so I don’t really care about the portals in SW all that much since I won’t pass by SW more then twice a day at worst. I dislike them centering everything in SW and Org, wish they’d have given people the option to sit where they want.
As a Mage with little else to do, I used to jump between cities to dodge people begging for portals or intercept players from the other faction inadvertently looking for PvP. But I have to admit that most of my time was spent idling in Stormwind. Of course, there were great idle spots and not-so-great idle spots; you had to be relatively undisturbed, while still maintaining a good view of the entire city. Sometimes people would land next to you, and inspect you, occasionally fishing for approval, gold or snacks (but you should never feed the trolls).
Darnassus remains my favorite hub, however. I like to think that I was one of the first few crazy non-Elvish people on my realm, who in the early days handed in a gazillion stacks of Runecloth to obtain the reputation needed to get a Nightsaber. That being said, if it took off and landed in Desolace, I still wouldn’t have a clue. The city, that is, not the kitty.
